It may sound contradictory to think of someone being fearful of success, but it happens more often than not. For whatever reasons, many of us are wired to fear our own success. It may be that achieving that success brings us out of our comfort zone or simply puts us into a situation we’re unfamiliar with. Whatever the reason, letting fear sabotage your plans can be detrimental to you personally as well as your business success. Here are a few tips to help you overcome the fear of success once and for all:
#1 – Be a “big picture” person
Many entrepreneurs feel paralyzed with fear once they look at all the minute details of a business venture. Some of the most successful business owners of our time have done the exact opposite to avoid this feeling. Instead of concentrating on minute details, they concentrate on the big picture. They know that the small details can be taken care off later. No one expects you to be familiar with every aspect of business, and there are many tasks that can be outsourced. You can also ask for help and advice when the time comes to complete each task. To avoid not acting on your ideas, ignore the small details and become a “big picture” person instead.
#2 – Give yourself a break
We all have times when we’re scared or feel a little vulnerable. It’s important not to let these emotions get the better of you. Simply see them for what they are – a temporary feeling. Like most things, this too will pass. Tell yourself that you may be a little fearful of a certain task or phase in your business but that it can be overcome. Being kind to yourself and concentrating on your successes and good points is the starting point to getting rid of fear.
#3 – Ask yourself – what’s the worst thing that can happen?
This simple question can help you overcome the fear of many scenarios. In the big scheme of things, what is actually the worst thing that could happen if you ventured into the unknown? Often times we realize that things aren’t that bad and our minds have a way of dramatizing certain events. Stop yourself from falling into this trap by facing your worst-case scenario head on.
The fear of success is a real issue for many entrepreneurs, and sometimes those thoughts and feelings are etched deep into our belief system. But with a little time, perseverance and action you can learn to enjoy your success and relish all those moments when something good comes out of your hard work and dedication.

Successful leaders and entrepreneurs can be born or made, but they tend to share some common characteristics that are crucial to their success. In general, an effective leader is:
1) Exemplary
A good leader is a role model for his (or her) team. With his character, he sets a standard, and he inspires others to follow his lead. He must demonstrate that he is trustworthy and pays more than just lip service to his professed ideals.
2) Enthusiastic
An excellent leader is passionate about his work and instills the same in others. His enthusiasm motivates his team toward their common goals, even if his role is different from theirs. At the same time, an enthusiastic leader is not afraid to roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty.
3) Confident
To lead and set direction effectively, a leader must have confidence in himself and his role. He will thus inspire confidence in others and elicit his team's trust and best efforts.
4) Steadfast
In times of uncertainty, a good leader remains steady and purposeful. He continues to function in an orderly way and reassures his team by exuding a positive attitude. He stays calm, composed, and focused in a crisis. Crises are inevitable in business; a great leader stays the course through it all.
5) Analytical
An excellent leader not only keeps his eyes on the prize, but also breaks down the process for reaching that goal into manageable steps. He then establishes benchmarks for measuring progress.
6) Creative
A great leader can always see ways to improve and knows that every idea can be broadened, expanded upon, or enhanced. He "thinks outside the box" and is not afraid to try new things. At the same time, he recognizes when an idea, strategy, or process is not working and puts a stop to it.
7) Committed to excellence
A commitment to excellence means never compromising values or standards. Second-best does not achieve success. The best leaders hew to high standards and do not shy away from "raising the bar" to achieve excellence in all areas.
These fundamental characteristics may be God-given or developed with time and experience. In either case, the successful leader works continually to refine and strengthen these traits, which will stand the test of time and help him weather the inevitable storms of business life. Ultimately, the best leaders never give up. They keep their eyes on the prize and lead their team toward reaching it.

In business, there is always going to be some element of risk. No matter what your do, no matter how stable, there’s always a chance that something will go wrong. It’s just that some business plans are more risky than others, but those are usually the ones with the most to gain. Making money and being successful is all about knowing how much risk to take. It’s plain and simple - if you don’t take a lot of risk, you’re probably not going to have a lot of gain.
The internet has given a lot of people the opportunity to go into business for themselves who haven’t been able to before. That means that there are a lot of extra people competing for the same business and the same money. You have to do something to stand out and put yourself ahead of the rest, and that involves taking a risk. Right now, many businesses are running away from risk as fast as they can. A lot of that is because they’re already in trouble from losing out on taking risks before. The truth is, recession is actually a great time to take moderate risks. When companies have hit rock bottom, there’s not much lower for them to go, but there is a lot for them to gain.
Taking risk can help you expand your horizons and learn new things. A lot of time when you’re taking risk in your business, you’re probably trying something you’ve never done before and may not know too much about. Taking that risk gives you a chance to try it out, and you may just find you like it. Risk can be a good thing when done right, but to run a stable business, it’s important not to take too much risk. For example, take a look at successful investment plans. They will take some risk so they can make large gains, but there is also a portion of the investment in more stable options so you don’t lose everything. If you risk all your resources on one thing, you won’t have anything else to risk if it goes poorly.
Your willingness to take a risk also needs to depend on your knowledge of what you’re risking. If your neighbor or relative tells you they’ve got a great business opportunity and you don’t understand a word of what they’re saying, it’s probably not the best idea. However, if there is an opportunity in your field and it’s something you understand and seems like a good idea, you’re better off going for it.
Ultimately, how much risk you take depends on you. Not only your personal preferences, but also your knowledge of the potential risk and your ability to survive financially if the risk doesn’t work out.

There are very few people, if any, who long to be unsuccessful. You don't just wake up in the morning and decide that you want to be mediocre. Most people long for more, but only a small few actually achieve the success they want. Just the same, successful people don't just become that way by accident. They have to work for it.
So what makes the difference between success and failure? What is it that successful people have that helps them get where they are? Here are just a few key traits of successful people.
Goal oriented
When you are sifting through piles of work, or are hit by a setback, it's easy to feel distraught. If you can't look forward and see why you do what you do, you're going to be more affected and more likely to give up.
Persistence
When you talk to successful people, you'll find a common theme. It's not that successful people don't fail, it's that they don't give up when they fail. They keep going and keep trying until they make it. Even if things go well for you in the beginning, eventually, the odds are you're going to fail eventually. You've just got to dust yourself off and keep trying.
Self-aware
In order to be successful, you need to know what you're good at. That way you can direct your path towards your positives and exploit them. It's also important that you be aware of your weaknesses, which is something that's a little harder for most people. By knowing your weaknesses, you can figure out how to avoid them faulting you, or you can take steps to improve on them.
Positive thinking
Have you ever noticed that when you're around someone who's excited and happy, you feel happier? And if you're around someone who's always depressed, you start to feel sad yourself? We are affected by what we are surrounded with. And the same goes internally. If we fill our minds with positive thought, we eventually start thinking more positively. And if you believe you are good at what you're doing and can accomplish your goals, you're going to try harder and longer to get them.
Creative thinking
There are thousands of businesses across the country and millions more across the world. These are all people competing for the same money you are. In order to make yourself known, you have to do something different. That will require you to be creative - through product ideas, marketing, customer support, or even in how you organize your office.
So, you're maybe thinking that you don't have most of these attributes, but that doesn't mean you can't become a successful person. The good news is that these behaviors can be learned. If success is something you really want, you just need to get the systems, support, and focus so you can stop working so hard and start working savvy.
